It has been a very unsettled period of weather with copious amounts of rain and apart from a few days in early September the river has been continuously in spate. During the last week the river has started to settle with 7 salmon caught, mostly grilse of about 6lb. The early running MSW fish and the sea trout are now mostly in the upper reaches, but a few sea trout in the 2/3lb range have been caught by the salmon anglers.
Needless to say river levels have been too high for trout fishing.
The Environment Agency has again granted the River Torridge an extension for the first fortnight of October to fish for salmon. Special permits must be obtained from Charles Inniss, Beeches, Sheepwash, Beaworthy, Devon, EX21 5NW: 01409 231237 : email firstname.lastname@example.org
