It has been a very slow start to the season with cold and wet weather predominating. The river has been in spate for week after week and only fishable on very few days.
However at long last the weather is more settled and the brown trout are now more active, although fly life is still sparse.
The salmon and early sea trout are spread throughout the system. Four salmon have been caught on the lower and middle river beats together with a small number of sea trout upto 2lb.
Providing the settled weather continues the next few weeks should provide some good fishing for brown trout and sea trout.
